How it works
Keep Editing in WordPress.
Your team keeps a familiar place to write. Here’s what changes, how publishing works, and how we get your new site ready to launch.
For your editors
What changes in your day-to-day work?
What stays familiar
- WordPress is where you write and edit
- You keep using the media library
- Your team uses the publishing controls agreed for the build
- The content and SEO fields included in the scope remain in WordPress
What changes
- Preview shows the new Astro website
- Page layouts use the templates and controls we build
- Your old theme and page builder no longer control the public design
- Forms and other website features need to be connected or rebuilt
We confirm what your editors need to change themselves, then test those tasks with them before launch. Preview, scheduled publication and deletion need their own checks; keeping WordPress does not connect them automatically.
If you are still choosing an approach, compare conventional WordPress, headless WordPress and a static export. To specify what your team needs, use the rebuild project brief.
The process
From the first review to launch
Review
We look at your pages, plugins, and the tools your editors use. You tell us what needs to improve.
Agree the work
You get a written scope and fixed price covering what stays, what changes, and what we will build.
Build and test
We build the site in Astro, connect WordPress, and test editing, previews, and publishing with your team.
Launch
We check page addresses and redirects, switch to the new site, and check the live pages and search engine access.
Keep it running
We hand over the site and its documentation. If you want ongoing help, we agree a care plan.
Before comparing quotes, separate the initial build from hosting, licenses and care. Our cost guide and ownership worksheet help you gather those figures without treating unknown costs as zero.
Publishing
From WordPress to your website
Write in WordPress
Your team edits the content in WordPress. The site uses the text, images, and other fields we connect to the new design.
Preview and publish
Preview shows your changes in the new design. Publishing sends them to the website. We agree how long updates will take to appear before launch.
Visitors see Astro
Astro displays your content as web pages, with the forms and other features included in your build.
Where WordPress lives
It can stay where it is
WordPress can often stay with your current host, using a separate address for editing. Visitors use your usual website address to reach the new Astro site.
What needs a closer look
Your plugins shape the plan
Page builder layouts need rebuilding in Astro. Checkout, memberships, and courses need their own plan, so we review how your site uses them before quoting.
